“Literature Review Efektivitas Mengunyah Permen Karet untuk Mempercepat Kembalinya Peristaltik Usus Pasien Post Appendiktomi”

Latar belakang : Appendisitis merupakan penyakit radang usus buntu yang menyebabkan terinfeksinya appendiks sehingga diperlukan pembedahan untuk memotong bagian appendiks yang mengalami infeksi. WHO menyebutkan 7% penduduk negara barat menderita appendisitis dan terdapat lebih dari 200.000 tindakan appendiktomi dilakukan disetiap tahunnya. Pembedahan appendiktomi akan menyebabkan hilangnya peristaltik usus. Salah satu penatalaksanaan non farmakologis untuk mempercepat kembalinya peristaltik usus pada pasien post appendiktomi adalah dengan cara mengunyah permen karet.
Tujuan : Mengetahui efektivitas mengunyah permen karet untuk mempercepat kembalinya peristaltik usus post appendiktomi.
Metode : Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan analisa desktriptif dan studi literature.
Hasil : Pada jurnal pertama setelah diberikan intervensi mengunyah permen karet terdapat percepatan munculnya peristaltik usus pada 21 responden. Dan pada jurnal kedua setelah diberikan tindakan mengunyah permen karet terdapat peningkatan rata – rata peristaltik usus menjadi 6,60. Hal ini dikarenakan dengan mengunyah permen karet akan meningkatkan produksi saliva sehingga memicu pelepasan hormon gastrointestinal yang akan menstimulasi saluran pencernaan sehingga mempercepat kembalinya peristaltik usus normal.
Kesimpulan : Ada pengaruh bermakna tindakan mengunyah permen karet untuk mempercepat kembalinya peristaltik usus pasien post appendiktomi.

“Literature Review of the Effectiveness of Chewing Gum to Accelerate the Return of Intestinal Peristalsis in Post Appendectomy Patients”

Background: Appendicitis is an inflammatory disease of the appendix that causes infection of the appendix which surgery is needed to cut the infected appendix. WHO states that 7% of Western countries suffer from appendicitis, and there are more than 200,000 appendectomy procedures performed every year. Surgical appendectomy will cause loss of intestinal peristalsis. One of the non-pharmacological treatments to accelerate the return of intestinal peristalsis in post-appendectomy patients is chewing gum.
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of chewing gum to accelerate the return of post appendectomy intestinal peristalsis.
Method: Data collection methods used descriptive analysis and literature study.
Result: In the first journal, after being given the chewing gum intervention, there was an acceleration of the appearance of intestinal peristalsis in 21 respondents. Furthermore, in the second journal, there was an average increase in intestinal peristalsis after being given chewing gum to 6.60. It occurs because chewing gum will increase saliva production, triggering the release of gastrointestinal hormones that will stimulate the digestive tract, thereby accelerating the return of normal intestinal peristalsis.
Conclusion: There is a significant effect of chewing gum to accelerate the return of intestinal peristalsis in post appendectomy patients.
